The Universal Theory is an atmospheric, black-and-white metaphysical thriller set in 1962 at a remote Swiss Alps lodge during a quantum physics conference. Young physicist Johannes Leinert arrives with his cynical doctoral advisor for what should be an ordinary academic retreat--but he soon becomes entangled in a series of mysterious deaths, cryptic encounters, and increasingly surreal phenomena. His life is upended after meeting Karin, a jazz pianist who somehow knows secrets about him he's never told another soul.

Directed by Timm Kröger and shot in sweeping CinemaScope, The Universal Theory blends film noir aesthetics with Hitchcockian suspense and philosophical inquiry. The narrative slowly reveals a chilling undercurrent of paranoia, identity, and multiversal possibilities, laced with references to quantum theory, memory, and perception.
