A young man discovers a mechanical device that merges with his own body, turning him into a cyborg superhero.

The Guyver (1991) is a high-energy hybrid of science fiction, body horror, and superhero action, brought to life by co-directors Screaming Mad George and Steve Wang. Based on the cult Japanese manga Bio Booster Armor Guyver, the film stars Jack Armstrong as Sean Barker, a college student who stumbles upon a mysterious alien artifact known as 'The Guyver.' When activated, the device fuses with Sean's body, transforming him into a biomechanical warrior with extraordinary powers. But this discovery draws the attention of Chronos, a sinister corporation populated by mutants called Zoanoids who will stop at nothing to retrieve the powerful suit.

With his girlfriend Mizuki (Vivian Wu) kidnapped and his life turned upside down, Sean must battle a grotesque parade of transforming villains in order to protect the device and the world from falling under Chronos' control. Alongside him is CIA agent Max Reed, played by Mark Hamill in a rare genre turn that adds gravitas and cult cachet to the film. The result is a chaotic, creature-filled rollercoaster of practical effects, martial arts combat, and over-the-top science fiction theatrics, featuring memorable turns by genre veterans Michael Berryman and David Gale.
