This film adaptation of August Strindberg's play explores the tragic affair between an aristocratic young woman & her father's valet in 1890s Sweden.
Miss Julie (Saffron Burrows, Deep Blue Sea, Troy) is a young woman of privilege, destined to marry into an affluent family of high standing. But one night, while rubbing elbows with her family's servants, she finds herself irrevocably drawn to Jean (Peter Mullan, Children of Men, War Horse), a strong-willed and impertinent footman.
